It Takes a Village

It takes a village to raise a child and we hope to be one small part of their support system. It’s our commitment to ensure the growth of your child happens in a supportive and positive environment. Our mentors are background checked, trained, and extensively interviewed by our Board to ensure the quality of your child’s experience. We also have resources with mental health specialists should any situation arise that requires interventive solutions.

We also want to make it worth their while.

In collaboration with each student, we will set milestone goals throughout the semester that will determine their eligibility for “fun-centives.” From pizza parties, local arcades, or gift cards to footlocker, these fun-centives (with your approval) will reward your child for making progress and moving forward.

This all culminates at high school graduation, where students are empowered to invest at least $4,000 ($1,000 per year), into their vocational future. Be it school tuition, or good tools to become a carpenter, these young adults will be empowered to make an important life decision for which we’ve been helping prepare them for multiple years.

What if we have to move?

We understand there are a variety of factors outside your control that might require your child to leave the mentoring program. The Advisory Board and Committee will review each situation and make a case-by-case decision to distribute their accrued vocational support.

We are sure you have many more questions, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Executive Director, Daniel Stidham at daniel@forwardmentoring.org for more details.
